An online course about acoustic simulations and auralization (en)

Abstract:
As part of the project Acoustics Knowledge Alliance (ASKnow), an online course including 30 lessons on the topic of acoustic simulations and auralization was created. It covers the required fundamentals of signal processing, gives an introduction into geometrical acoustics and wave-based simulation models for room acoustics, explains binaural synthesis and other spatial audio reproduction techniques. Additionally, several application examples of simulation and auralization in industry and research are presented. The online course is designed as an e-learning activity with gamification elements which can be taken as a standalone course by students. Teachers of in-person courses can also select individual lessons and materials as modules of blended learning. In addition to textbook style text and schematics, the course focuses on providing animations, interactive tools and various audio examples to let students experience the contents in an interactive way. The course material is free and will be made available on the ACOUCOU platform (www.acoucou.org).
