Comparing Derivations from the Revised Theory of Sound Level Distribution in Rooms to Measurement Results (en)

Abstract: Derivations from the revised theory of sound level distribution in rooms can be used to find estimates of other room acoustic parameters like EDT10, G, C50, C80. The paper presents formulas of such derivations and attempts to organize basic factors and measures on the basis of causes and consequences. Results encourage, that instead of volume alone, mean path lengths shall be used to differentiate categories of rooms. Results support also, why mean absorption coefficients shall be used to specify initial room acoustic characteristics in most cases instead of reverberation times. Calculation results of the derivations are compared to a large set of real-world measurements and modelling results for validation.
