Abstract: For the numerical simulation of acoustics, one of the major algorithms in use is SIMPLE (Semi Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations). The popularity of SIMPLE stems from the reasons that collocated arrangement of flow variables is possible. This results in a very versatile algorithm that could be applicable to general polyhedral meshes. The SIMPLE however when used for numerical simulation of aero-acoustics often suffers a problem where a spurious noise is generated due to coarsening of control volumes in the mesh used. In this work we would like to present the numerical experiments performed with multi-physics software Wildkatze. These numerical experiments shine some light on origins of this spurious noise and possibles solutions to this problem in Wildkatze software.
