Abstract: The concept of similitude is now widely applied in the engineering vibroacoustics applications since it is particularly useful when applied to thetesting of models with increasing complexity. This holds from the simple plates and beams to the full assembled structures such as gears. The similitude schemes allow predicting the dynamic response of an original system by using the information obtained from a similar one (defined as avatar orreplica according to the partial or complete degree of similitude). These schemes are extremely helpful because they allow avoiding measurementson original structures with big (or small) geometric sizes which can make laboratory experiments impractical or too costly. In addition to geometricsimilarity, the focus on damping similitude has increased in recent years: this because the damping represents a highly relevant property during the design phase of any structure. In this view, it is crucial to obtain a scaling law, from the dimensional analysis or from the system’s equation of motion, thatincludes this crucial dynamic characteristic. The study is focused on the application of the similitude among damped subject to forced vibrations.
